100wc What was the rabbit late for

It was one of those questions that kept a girl awake at night. “What was the rabbit late for,” wondered Alice.

Countless scenarios ran through her head every night, late after her parents had gone to bed, and she just had the streetlights for company.  The streetlights didn’t know – they were electric, and everyone knows that electric is stupid.  Wallpaper whispered about happened in the room. Cars discussed roads. Trees muttered about birds.  But the rabbit….. the rabbit had been talkative. Perhaps it “rabbited on” thought Alice, and groaned at her own joke.

She’d watched it leave.  But a flash of sun - and where did it go?

Well done, Sarah, I like the way Alice's thoughts flitter about, and the references to wallpaper whispering and cars discussing roads - I laughed out loud at the "electric is stupid". Great Alice voice in this. :)

I love the human traits you have given your objects Sarah ( no doubt there's a posh word for it!). Like Judee, I like the flitting - just like my head at night. I'm interested to see where this one is taken next week!

I love the 'cars discussed the road' imagery..

I live near the A1M and when I hear the cars pass at night now, as I lay in bed, I can't help imagining they're talking to each other :-)
